I admit nothing at all: spelling is a whole and the grammar of French is very complex, since certain rules include almost more exceptions than checks...
It is true that in other languages, even reputed to be more phonetic than ours (and it's not difficult!), there are also not very logical variations... I obviously put aside Esperanto whose grammar (including conjugation) fits in one (small) page and Mandarin, whose grammar is practically non-existent (but there are other difficulties!)...

German is a grammatically very demanding language, with its 3 genders + 4 declensions.
Verbs are less irregular than in French, but there are quite a few irregular verbs.
The syntax in German is quite complex too, especially the place of the verb and especially in subordinate and relative clauses.
The German has the advantage of better pronouncing all the letters in a word while in French many letters are not pronounced.
On the other hand, in terms of vocabulary, the Germanic roots are anything but intuitive for those who have a Latin mother tongue. And you have to work / learn / consolidate to acquire the words, much more than in English.

it's funny, the only ones concerned are the children and no one consults them. The school has lost its meaning and its objective of being able to access knowledge with elementary bases which are to read, write, count only, a free knowledge, not one imposed by "teachers" concerned about their privileges of "master" ( which underlines the dominant/dominated relationship) to the detriment of that of transmission of knowledge!
