Inclusive writing: they want to kill the French language! Debate and particularities

by sen-no-sen » 13/10/17, 15:14

Another example with "inclusive writing" ....

Since publisher Hatier has published a schoolbook that uses inclusive writing, critics and advocates are getting down to it. What is it really about? Decryption.

Fight sexist stereotypes by reworking spelling. This is the goal of inclusive writing, which has been defended for years by feminist currents, and which has provoked heated controversy since publisher Hatier published a textbook for CE2 using this new method.

Ah bin wish, I practiced some times inclusive writing without knowing it except that I used () instead of points ... more readable with the () AMHA!

In short, to summarize: how to complicate the French language already not easy! : Cheesy:

Here I learned 2 words thank you: autrice, painter : Cheesy:

Uh today we rather say "author" no?

The latest version of word will suggest inclusive writing ... and it can become anything ...

http://www.lefigaro.fr/secteur/high-tec ... lusive.php

Some comments are very good:

We are living in 1984. Terrifying. By the way, why then should we not start with the feminine in inclusive writing? It's horrible for women to start with the masculine and put the feminine at the end, right? Ah but wait .. if we do that, it becomes discriminating for men suddenly! Or else we should put every other letter. Or have a system of rotating letters, so that no one is "before" or "after".

For feminization it's more a question of habit than anything else ...

Nobody would think to say: what is it charming my baker Image

Everyone uses bakery because this word has been preserved while others have been abandoned or created ...

In 20 years the exoticism of autrice will no longer surprise anyone.

For the spelling it's neither more nor less than a rule (just like the speed limits or the date of the balances): impossible to satisfy everyone.

But it is sure that if we put ourselves in the place of women it's been centuries that we should hear: all these girls and boys gathered for the village ball were beautiful and beautifully dressed.

or even

Pierre and his two sisters got in a car ...

Seen from this angle it's funny ... is not it and yet that's what women are used to ...

It is sure that the solution whether it is writing or speaking, is not simple.

Watch out if it's this man, uh ... this woman ... uh, this trangenre who serves you! Image

Alias Con-chita Sausage. : Mrgreen:

there will be thinking about a 3ème genre (the neutral) in the French language to not discriminate trans. It is necessary to be careful these days to not offend anyone! There are some who have time to lose ... it seems. Fortunately, the thermoindustrial society of mass production allows them to develop neurotic states of mind and to make it a politico-media banner. :o In ancient times, most of the activity was to find food and shelter. Not very comfortable of course, but it left less time to mess. : Idea:

Inclusive writing: no, the French Academy does not decide alone the "good use" of the language

The "Immortals" rose on Thursday against inclusive writing. A position that is not necessarily authoritative. Explanations.

The French Academy unanimously adopted its members Thursday 26 October a very critical statement on inclusive writing. This "solemn warning" denounces the "multiplication of orthographic and syntactic marks" engendered by this spelling, which "results in a disunited language, disparate in its expression, creating a confusion that borders on illegibility", according to the institution .

Does this verdict of the "Immortals" put an end to the debate? Does it actually make any recourse to inclusive writing outside the good use of language? Not necessarily.
