yes there are ambiguities of writing but not that much finally (many examples relate to the ambiguity of the endings in "tions" and in "ent"). English is much worse, it is often impossible to read an unknown word, let alone write it. In French it is most of the time possible to read it (with these few exceptions), on the other hand it is impossible to write it because there are several ways of transcribing the same sounds (in or an, water or o or au, k or c or qu, s or ç ...) Italian and German are very phonetic with almost no ambiguity. Turkish also because by going from the Arabic alphabet to the Latin alphabet (overnight !!), Atatürk imposed a strictly phonetic writing, which allows moreover to see words of French origin written in "fonetik" ": sosis, farmasi, kwaför ....

if not a spelling that I adore, the ceremonial spelling proposed by the college of pataphysics ... strictly regular and phonetic, but using the strangest occurrence to transcribe each phoneme in French!

for example "O" is written "ü" (as in shambles, the only known example! "

"a" is written "igt" as in finger (phonetically "doa")

"g dur" is written "c" as in second.

r is written "rrh" as in "deposit" ``

"t" is written "ght" as in "night-club"

"g mou" is written sg as in "Vosges".

Other than that it is quite phonetic, if you know the transcriptions you can write all the words phonetically!

"Ceremonial spelling project" is then written

Brrhüsgë gd Ürrhghtücrrhigtph gd igtbigtrrhigt

ghtrrhü bü!!!

oops I should have written ghtrrhü besü !!!

b pronouncing "p" as in "oBscene", to write b you must write "bes" as in "plomBES"
