Ecological house: passive, bioclimatic, solar, positive, BBC, healthy ...

When we talk about an ecological house, we often confuse several concepts which, if they can be combined, are nonetheless completely different in principle. It is therefore good to recall the basic definitions of these “healthier” houses with regard to the environment and their occupants.

So a passive house is a house without any heating system whereas a (bio) climatic house benefits from solar gains without being passive. Obviously a passive house implies an optimization at the level of bioclimatism but this is not its first definition.

Likewise a solar house, of course, must be well insulated, but in no case is it passive since it uses solar heating.

A good ecological house is also a fair compromise between these different types of house.
