Synopsis

Jeanne Charmant Killman, examining magistrate, is in charge of unraveling a complex case of embezzlement and embezzlement involving the president of a major industrial group. She realizes that the more she advances in her investigations, the more her power increases. But at the same time, and for the same reasons, his private life is weakened.

The story of the film: the Elf affair

If the film does not deal directly with the Elf file, the attentive spectator will have fun with a few nods to this resounding politico-judicial affair. In The Drunkenness of Power, the examining magistrate is called Jeanne Charmant (a name which necessarily recalls that of Eva Joly, in charge of the Elf file), and the indicted boss is played by François Berléand, actor at the graying beard, whose features are singularly reminiscent of those of the ex-CEO of the oil group Loik Le Floch Prigent (both of them are also affected by a skin disease). Let us add that the filmmaker entrusted the role of a politician involved in this affair to… Roger Dumas (Roland Dumas is not far…). Likewise, the character embodied by Philippe Duclos has the surname Holéo, a term which evokes the sector of activity of the Elf company.
