Hydropower in France for electricity production by EDF
By 2010, in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, 22% of European electricity consumption will have to be supplied by renewable energies.
Today, in France, EDF produces 10% of electricity from ENR, 8% from hydropower.

As the world's leading renewable energy company, hydropower is able to produce electricity in a sustainable, flexible and competitive way, with strong ecological advantages because it does not emit CO2. In addition, it responds at low cost to sudden fluctuations in electricity demand.
Water, common heritage, must be
shared between all needs: electricity, drinking water production, agriculture, industry, tourism, with maximum safety.
