Download: EducAuto, HCCi and ACI, the new modes of combustion

Many articles currently cite new combustion processes, most frequently under the name HCCI or ACI, and attribute to them spectacular properties in terms of reduction of nitrogen oxides and particles without loss of efficiency. All manufacturers are actively seeking to develop commercial products using these processes. They could appear on the market by 2010.

It should be noted that Honda is the only manufacturer to have finalized an 2T engine using a CAI type process (then called ARcombustion). Prototypes (EXP2) engaged at PARIS-DAKAR 1995 were used for the validation of the concept, then it was applied on a motorcycle (CRM250AR) in 1998 and on scooters (125 and 150) whose diffusion was limited to Japan .
