On the occasion of the European Council of 22 and 23 Mars 2005, which dealt, among other things, with the revision of the Sustainable Development Strategy adopted by the European Union in Gothenburg in 2001, Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, sets out available to all users on its website the Sustainable Development Indicators recently adopted by the European Commission. Some 120 indicators are currently available, usually from 1990. They cover the European level but also the Member States of the European Union, the candidate countries and those of the European Economic Area.
