The community of communes of Villeneuvois (CCV), in Lot-et-Garonne, will operate from Thursday ten heavy goods vehicles for household waste collection with a mixture containing 30% pure vegetable oil, we learned. Tuesday at the town hall of Villeneuve-sur-Lot.

On October 15, community elected officials unanimously approved a partnership agreement with the National Institute of Pure Vegetable Oils, located in Agen, which will ensure the supply of fuel in particular, the CCV, chaired by the mayor of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Jérôme Cahuzac (PS).

Through this approach, the CCV, which brings together ten municipalities, has the triple objective of using “clean energy that protects the environment”, of developing “a new sector for agriculture and therefore a source of additional income for farmers ”and reduce“ the energy bill for the public community ”.

The trucks will operate initially for six months "with a mixture of 30% vegetable oil and 70% diesel, not requiring any adaptation of the vehicles", according to a spokesperson for the CCV
