It's important to know that several financial aid programs exist to help fund energy-efficient renovations. The eco-PTZ is a zero-interest loan granted under certain conditions. To find out if you're eligible, you can use an online eco-PTZ simulation tool. We'll explain how it works.
What is an eco-PTZ loan?
Definition
The eco-PTZ, or zero-interest eco-loan, is a government assistance program designed to help individuals finance energy renovation works in their primary residence. It consists of an interest-free loan, granted by a specially partnered bank, and solely for carrying out work aimed at improving the energy efficiency of the dwelling. The term of the eco-PTZ loan is capped at 15 years, or 20 years for a comprehensive renovation. The work must be completed within 3 years of the loan being granted. Good to know: The eco-PTZ should not be confused with the standard PTZ. The latter is intended to finance the purchase of real estate.
Eligible works
There are 3 main categories of work eligible for theeco-PTZ :
- Isolated work: roof and exterior wall insulation, replacement of single-glazed windows with double glazing, installation or replacement of a heating, domestic hot water production or ventilation system…comprehensive renovation work enabling an improvement of at least two energy classes in the DPE (Energy Performance Diagnosis),
- the rehabilitation work of a non-collective sanitation system that does not consume energy.
Good to know: The work must be carried out by an RGE (Recognized Environmental Guarantor) craftsman.
The amount
The amount awarded depends on the nature of the work to be carried out. It can be up to:
- €7,000 for window replacement.
- €10,000 for the rehabilitation of a non-collective sanitation system,
- €15,000 for a one-off action among the eligible works,
- €30,000 for a package of 2 to 7 shares,
- €30,000 for a package of 3 to 7 shares,
- €50,000 for a comprehensive renovation or for work that qualifies for the MaPrimeRénov' scheme.
It is also possible to benefit from a supplementary eco-PTZ loan for the same property within 5 years of obtaining the initial eco-PTZ loan. In this case, the sum of the two loans must not exceed €30,000, or €50,000 for a comprehensive renovation.
Why run an eco-PTZ simulation?
Make a eco-PTZ simulation This offers several advantages. First, it allows you to quickly verify your eligibility for the program based on the type of work you plan to do. This avoids unpleasant surprises when applying directly to a bank. Second, this process allows you to obtain an estimate of your monthly payments and loan term. This gives you a comprehensive overview of your project's feasibility, enabling you to adjust your renovation options according to your repayment capacity. Finally, it's a good way to anticipate potential additional financial assistance to optimize your financing. Indeed, some programs can be combined with the eco-PTZ loan. This is the case with MaPrimeRénov', energy savings certificates, and certain subsidies granted by local authorities.
