Charles Pasqua indicted in Oil for Food case

Charles Pasqua was indicted on Wednesday April 5 in one of the French investigations into alleged embezzlement around the “Oil for Food” program in Iraq, said Thursday the former interior minister, who has announced its intention to challenge the lawsuits.

Suspected by the courts of having received allowances in the form of vouchers for the purchase of oil barrels awarded by the Saddam Hussein regime, he was indicted by the investigating judge of the financial brigade, Philippe Courroye, in particular for “aggravated influence peddling”. Mr. Pasqua announced Thursday that "his lawyers will file an appeal today for annulment of the indictment before the investigative chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal".
