Results of a study of glacial cores from tropical areas

For the first time, glaciologists compared elements from ice cores collected from the Andes and the Himalayan range to find out how the climate had changed, and is still changing, in the tropics.

The National Science Foundation, the Administration of Oceanic and Atmospheric Studies and the Ohio State University funded the research, said the press release the university released on June 26.

The results of this work show a great cooling more than five thousand years ago and a more recent warming in the last fifty years.
