Announced on June 26, the “bonus-malus” measure of the 2004 Climate Plan was to tax the most polluting cars and encourage the French to buy less fuel-efficient cars. "Let's button the big four out of our cities!" Was the rallying cry of all media.

It did not take long for the lobbies to call to order the naïve who believed in the Kyoto protocol. They had not understood that this is a masquerade, a frenzy. That it is in fact a question of finding minor measures but which are very expensive to impress.
But this error has been corrected: the plan that will be presented to parliament is a little gem of its kind. Billed 90 million Euros (for the first year), it will:
-to put pretty "energy labels" (of the type already found on household appliances) on vehicles, homes and air conditioning.
-to promote compliance with the speed limit (but not to lower it to 120 km / h on the motorway as it was planned).
-to offer training in soft driving to new drivers (one can imagine the repercussions….).
-to launch a study on the impact of air transport (it eats bread and it occupies).
-increase the tax credit enjoyed by those who opt for thrifty equipment (which amounts to being paid for by the community instead of seeking to lower costs and increase performance).

Conclusion: to be expected.
