The consumption of different types of meat in the world: key figures in 2003

Discussion paper on meat consumption in the world and in major developed and developing countries by tonnage and type of meat: cattle, sheep, swine and poultry.

In 2003, an average of 38.7 kg of meat was consumed in the world per year and per capita. This figure only increases with economic development and the improvement of the average standard of living.
