Installing a turbine PICO, need info

by hydro turbine » 26/09/09, 11:23

Hello
I am in the mountains with a small stream that flows 6/7 l / s at least depending on the season with the possibility of falling from 5 to 6 m. It is to electrify in 220 v a small house, lamps, computer ...
For the moment, the pico turbine which could correspond is the MGH 200 HH with 6 m of fall and 6.3 or 6.4 l / s.
I need info for its installation and to know if other solutions are possible.
This turbine requires a water intake with an outlet diameter of 210 mm. I have to make this bin before the snow! and I also need info for that.
see you soon

mgh 200hh seems to me to be the right solution for you. Be discreet because you need authorizations and the file is very complex. If you want advice be more specific on your problem of good basin especially do not forget the grid and pay attention to the pressure drops of the pipe if you little you oversize it. 200w on 24h that makes 4.8 kwh if you store in batteries you can run a lot of stuff with it.

Hello,

It's funny, I want to do the same thing with roughly the same configuration as you (30l / s, 2,5m drop). *
Can you give STP more detailed information on the MGH 200HH, brand, characteristics, finally everything.
Apparently you already seem to be well informed, it's a long-standing project, isn't it?

Ok I found it is Powerpal again the manufacturer. Now can you tell me where and how you plan to buy it because I also live in Ariège! :P

That is to say ? It is the one and only importer in France ??
Should call to find out if they don't have a closer competitor :D

Hello,

hydro turbine, I don't think the MGH 200 HH is the best suited. on the other hand, it is good for the case of vinio.

Indeed, the MGH 200 is a kind of pico Francis in which the speed of the water is increased by suction at the outlet.
A Francis requires a lot of water (high flow) for a low waterfall.
On the other hand, when the flow is low with a higher drop height, a pelton is much more suitable. which is the case of hydro turbine.
Typically for hydro power plants worldwide:
-lower than 30m: Kaplan type run-of-the-water turbine
- from 30m to 300m: Francis
-> 300M: Pelton.

see the realization in pico pelton:
http://www.moreau-fr.net/proto/turbine/turbine.html

In addition, developing a new very low-cost pico-turbine, I am looking for experimental sites in daily use for implementation during 2011.
If you are interested, both, please contact me as MP. I specify that I bear all the installation costs until the departure of the electric cable to use.

Hello,

I present myself, Arnaud 24 years old, I am on a project to build a log house, I have on my land a small river (the magel in Mollkirch) I have an average flow of 600L / S and 10L / s during low water, however I have a very small drop (2m max). I am also lucky to have a hard cabin of 30m² 1m from the river crossing. What do you advise me to install as equipment?

My best wishes for 2011

A + nonosch

Hi and welcome.

a) create a new subject if you want to have a better chance of replying / monitoring your project

b) do you have the right to modify the flow / earthwork of your stream?

If you manage to climb a 2m dam you will have what to do!
